The Future of Ambiance Symposium is a project headed by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival on the 70th anniversary of its exploration of ambiance and site-specific performances, and as a part of the 2-year Future Epics project which is supported by the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme –Culture subprogramme. From 18 to 20 July, the Symposium will gather relevant European and domestic artists, scientists and experts in contemporary site-specific performance in a number of locations around Dubrovnik. A special emphasis will be put on the history of Dubrovnik’s ambiance, on the challenges of festivalization and of festivals as cultural destinations, and on new ambiance.

After the grand gala concert in front of the St. Blaise church the previous day, the music programme at the anniversary 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival goes spectacularly on in collaboration with the Caboga Stiftung foundation. On July 12 2019 at 9.30pm Schubert’s Winterreise will be performed by internationally acclaimed and award-winning Croatian musicians bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac and pianist Danijel Detoni, in the dazzling Bunić-Kaboga summer villa.
A gala concert will start off the music programme of the 70th and anniversary edition of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival on Thursday 11 July at 9.30pm with performances by the Lower Saxony State Orchestra and the Ivan Goran Kovačić Academic Choir with their distinguished soloists – soprano Evelin Novak, mezzo-soprano Janja Vuletić, tenor Tomislav Mužek and bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac – under the baton of maestro Ivan Repušić. The concert will be held on the open festival stage in front of the Saint Blaise church. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is on the repertoire.

Raising the Libertas flag to the verses of The Hymn to Liberty in front of St Blaise’s Church on Wednesday, 10 July at 21 will mark the opening of the 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which will traditionally take place from 10 July to 25 August at more than thirty site-specific locations in Dubrovnik. The programme of the Festival’s anniversary season as well as many other interesting facts were presented to the public by the Artistic Director of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival Dora Ruždjak Podolski and Executive Director Ivana Medo Bogdanović on Wednesday, 3 July, at the Hotel Excelsior.
One of the greatest living music legends, singer whose world glory lasts more than half a century, Tom Jones performed on 1 July, in front of the Dubrovnik Cathedral. This spectacular concert was organized by the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in collaboration with Star production.
On the day of the concert, on Monday 1 July, there will be two entrances for visitors with seating tickets: the first entrance will be between the Church of St. Blaise and Gradska Kavana and the second entry will be at the end of street Od Puča, next to the Gundulić Square.
The entry for the audience with standing tickets will be on the side of the Old Port towards the Držić Square. Entrance for the audience will be open from 20:45.
After Zagreb, Zadar and Vienna, the Zagreb Guitar Quartet and actor Duško Modrinić will tell a story about Bersa’s life in his hometown of Dubrovnik. The programme entitled Bersa and His Contemporaries will take place on Saturday, 18 May at 20:00 at the Bunić-Kaboga Summer Villa as a continuation of collaboration between the Caboga Stiftung Foundation, Dubrovačka baština d.o.o. and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
Italian trio Il Volo will perform in front of the Cathedral on 1 August and tickets for this musical spectacle are available online at www.ulaznice.hr
Vocal masterclass held by baritone Krešimir Stražanac will take place from 11 to 14 July 2019 at the Bunić-Kaboga Summer Villa in Dubrovnik. The masterclass will focus on singing technique and interpretation. Participants of the masterclass organised by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival will receive a certificate of attendance.
As part of the project Port of Dreamers, the Slovene National Theatre Maribor, one of the project partners, organised the first Artistic Lab with the theme of migrations, held from 3 to 8 March. Port of Dreamers is a two-year international cultural and artistic project co-funded by the EU Creative Europe Programme – Culture Sub-programme, with the theme of history of migrations on the European continent.

Dubrovnik Celebrates Heritage - Opera Gala performed on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of inclusion of the Old City of Dubrovnik on UNESCO's World Heritage List
The gala concert on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of inclusion of the Old City of Dubrovnik on UNESCO's World Heritage List and the 10th anniversary of inclusion of the Festivity of St Blaise on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, was performed by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ivan Josip Skender, with renowned soloists Marija Kuhar Šoša, Dubravka Šeparović Mušović, Domagoj Dorotić and Ljubomir Puškarić, last night, 1 February at the main conference hall of Hotel Rixos Libertas.
